Marché Restaurants Schweiz AG is one of the top 10 Swiss companies with the highest turnover in the field of full-service system catering. With the «Marché» brand, it is the clear number 1 in motorway catering services. Marché Switzerland has been part of the Coop Group since 2014, operating as an independent subsidiary. The first Marché restaurant opened in Neuenkirch Ost in Lucerne, Switzerland. It was also the first restaurant on a Swiss motorway.
As a further development of the popular Cindy's self-service restaurants, the first Cindy's Diner with service opened at the motorway in Herrlisberg Süd.
Marché became a franchise partner of Restaurant Brands International (rbi) and opened the first Swiss branch of Burger King on a Swiss motorway in Bursins.
Marché became part of the Coop Group and operated on the market as Marché Restaurants Schweiz AG.
In cooperation with Betty Bossi, the first branch of Zopf & Zöpfli opened at Bern station. In the meantime, further branches were added at Zurich main station and in the Letzipark and Volkiland shopping centres.
The brand portfolio was complemented by the addition of Popeyes, one of the world's largest and most successful chicken fast food restaurant chains. At the same time, the existing Swiss Popeyes restaurants in Oerlikon, Basel and Tivoli shopping centre were taken over by QR Group Services in Nyon.
The joint success story with Restaurant Brands International (rbi) continued with a promising chapter: Marché Restaurants Schweiz AG became the first licensee of the Firehouse Subs brand, one of the most successful American sandwich chains.
